Autumn Calving is well underway! we are through our AI calves and on to our Back up bull calves.
We are calving down over 120 cows and 20 first time heifers, and so excited to see our new calves by HPCA Veracious, WSC Iron Horse, RL Justice, Scheifelbain North Star & Hoover Know How.
HPCA Veracious
Calving Ease, Growth, Carcass, Meat Quality
HPCA Veracious is a bull we have use a couple seasons now, and while he phenotypically has a great structure and is very well footed, he scored in the top 1% of the breed for 200 & 400 & 600 day weights, carcass weight & EMA there's not much to fault on this bull! An interesting pedigree too- with Sitz Upward & GAR Prophet in the mix. We are very excited to see how these calves grow out, so far so good but stay tuned!!
WSC Iron Horse
Growth, Carcass, Meat Quality, Maternal
This bull ticks a lot of boxes for our breeding program. Although slightly higher on Birth Weight, across our cows this bull will bring growth, meat quality, feed efficiency & with a strong Mature Cow Weight Value we expect his daughters will strongly exhibit these growth traits. The first time we have used this bull and with close to 10 on the ground now we are seeing strong healthy calves, all slightly above 30kg so very excited to see how these turn out!
